And while a traditional diaper cake takes time to make, you can make a diaper babies gift basket filled with diapers and mini diaper babies on top, way faster.

How To Make Diaper Babies With Socks And Washcloths
What you need for 1 pair (2 miniature diaper babys):
- 2 diapers, size 2 or size 3 - if you choose a bigger pampers' size the babies do not look that cute anymore
- 2 baby washcloths
- 1 pair of newborn socks
- some slim ribbon, some satin ribbon or also raffia ribbon
- 1 pair of small wobbly eyes and a black felt pen to draw sleeping eyes. I think they look the cutest if one is asleep and one awake
- alternatively for personalization: slim ribbon, wooden letters, wooden beads
DIY Diaper Babies Tutorial
Take a diaper and roll it up. The best way is to roll it from the open end to the closed end as shown here. Don't roll it too tight, though. if needed, fix at one end with a rubber band.
Take your washcloth and wrap it half way round your pampers. If you have diapers with something printed on, make sure the part of the diaper where there is no pattern is on the front (where the face will be later on - it's nice to have a plain diaper otherwise baby's face will look spotty). Fold the washcloth half way up, turn the nappy around and fix with a slim ribbon.

Remove the rubber band. Take your sock and fold the rim over - if necessary fold it several times. Then put it over the top of your diaper just like a hat. Take another piece of ribbon (the same kind as for the body or also a second one for more variety) and tie it around so the hat looks like a jelly bag hat.

Fix your sticky wobbly eyes. There's also non-sticky eyes which you will need to glue on.
Alternatively use a felt pen to draw your eyes. If you like, draw a mouth, too. Some people think the sleeping version is so much cuter... You can also make one with wobbly eyes and one sleeping which is my personal favorite.

Et voilà, your diaper doll is finished!

Wrap in a burp cloth (with or without a cuddly toy) for giving on its own or for a cute addition to a gift certificate or a money gift.
How To Personalize Your Diaper Babies
Make it more personal by adding the newborn babies name. All you need is some satin ribbon, some wooden letters and alternatively some wooden beads.
Thread the wooden letters on your ribbon and if you like add a bead at the beginning and end of the baby's name. A bead is also necessary for placing in between should the baby have two Christian names.
Then tie the name band around the one baby or your two babies. If you only have one baby and a long name you might have to adjust your name band in another way like fixing it more vertical, like a sash.
Sock Diaper Babies: How To Make Diaper Babies With Socks Only
You can also make your pampers babies out of a diaper and a pair of socks only (no washcloth necessary).
Material needed for this version: 1 diaper (size 2 or size 3), 1 pair of newborn socks, ribbon (one or two kinds), a felt pen for the sleepy eyes.
This version is cute to showcase your socks, like the ones shown on the right photo. I have used some "I love mom" and "I love dad" socks. It would really be a pity if you couldn't read the messages!

Diaper-Babies For Twins And Multiples
Miniature babies made of diapers also make a cute gift for newborn twins or multiples.
You can make two boy babies or two girl babies or a girl and a boy baby. Either give the other sock as a separate addition or place one sock over the other and use both socks for the hat. They are even cuter if you personalize the babies.
Of course you can also make the socks only version.
Here's an adorable personalized gift idea for newborn triplets: What do parents of triplets probably need most? Money!
